1001 Beer adventures

A former Princess Cruises Bartender, having started my career as a young steward onboard the original Sun Princess.  Joining the ship in 

San Juan, Puerto Rico,  I walked up the gangway and was greeted by a wonderful man, the Bar Manager, Mr Chaffey.  He was so inspirational and so good to me; taught me everything I needed to know about customer service, beer and wine.

Followed were many adventurous years filled with excitement and friendship.  I worked my way gradually up the ranks to the dizzy heights of Bar Manager, visiting all corners of the world.  I look back on one particular year when I welcomed the role of 

Cellar Master aboard Princess Cruises (then Flag Ship) Mv Regal Princess.  As we docked under the forever-remembered Twin Towers in New York, I was honoured to be given the role of personal wine steward to Dame Margaret Thatcher and her illustrious guests for the evening -

what a tale to tell!!

Then I discovered a book by Mr Adrian Tierney-Jones which opened my eyes to the amount of New beers there are in the world and I embarked on my quest and my four 1001 BEER Adventures were born.
